Faith, Food and Shopping

With the afternoon sun overhead, we piled in the Honda, four of us on a journey of faith, food and shopping.  Faith, food and shopping.  A dichotomy, yes?  Yet, in the same weekend all were fulfilled.  We were fed both spiritually and temporally.  You see we were going to Salt Lake City, a Mecca of sorts for members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  Twice a year, leaders from our faith speak of Christ, his life and how we can embrace Him more fully in what is called General Conference.  We were lucky enough to be in possession of four tickets, otherwise, we would just sit at home and watch it on BYU-TV, which is totally okay with me, too.

Our first stop in reaching the outskirts of Salt Lake was

Because you just can't get them in Idaho.

The next day found us shopping and visiting a different kind of Mecca

Yeah, it was my birthday weekend.  Let me just say that I have never been to IKEA.  I was overwhelmed and in awe as I wandered around that maze of a store.  I could have gone through a second time once I took it all in, but I had two males in tow, and a good woman should know their limits.

Sunday found us here

and here

How overwhelming it was to be amongst so many fellow Latter Day Saints all filled with the excitement and anticipation to hear the good words about Jesus Christ from these amazing and inspirational men.

Yes, our hearts were full, our belly's were sated
and my checkbook a little bit lighter.

  1. Sounds like a wonderful time all around! Denver just got an Ikea and I have yet to visit. I'm afraid I'd get a bad case of the things-lusties.

  2. Big groups of people worshiping or just coming out to learn about Jesus gets me kind of emotional - it's so amazing!!! I'm not Mormon but I really admire a lot of your beliefs and close knit families. Hope you had a great birthday weekend, can't beat Ikea!

  3. That so awesome that you got to go to the conference center! And boy do I miss In-N-Out. That picture made me hungry!

  4. What a fun trip and such a special time to be with fellow believers! Happy late birthday!

  5. It sounds like you had an AWESOME trip! All the shopping I'm sure was fun but I think getting to be in the conference center where you were surrounded by all the believers and speakers and preachers had to have filled you with so much love and AWE .... not being a Mormon I can't say that I have had this experience but I can just imagine the awesomeness of it all.

Stopping by from Make My Saturday Sweet. Thank you for sharing this with all of us.

  6. It sounds like a wonderful weekend. I have never been to IKEA either. I wish they had one here.

  7. Sounds like a great trip! My mouth is watering thinking about In N Out, great seats at the conference center too! I was never able to get that close, but always felt an AMAZING spirit while attending!!

  8. Sounds like you had a great time!! I've never had one of those burgers before, but I know all about Coach and IKEA, lol! I felt the same way the first time I did the "maze". It's a TON to take in. Did you have the meatballs??? One of the best parts!

Always happy to hear from you! Comments make my day, just please keep them uplifting and positive. Thanks for stopping by!
