A Retraction

A retraction is necessary on this day in history, well it is probably over due. KT has been hounding me for a public apology for this post for quite some time.  Let it hereto henceforth be known that I am having an affair.  I'm sorry, it's true!  It's pretty Mickey Mouse if you ask me...Very innocent, but I can't seem to stop.  I have traded in this:

this:

 and this:

For this:

YEAH BABY!

Mormon Mommy Blog

I have a confession to make....

I am a Mormon Mommy Blogger

If you are a usual follower you may have already figured that out, but I just thought I'd make that confession.  I am actually closer to a Mormon Empty Nester Blogger, but hey, I'm still a Mommy.  I'm even part of a community called.......

wait for it.......

wait for it........

Mormon Mommy Blogs.  Shocker, right?!

I recently read an online article about a Non Mormon Feminist, Emily Matchar, and her take on Mormon Mommy Bloggers. I was actually quite impressed by her insight, understanding and acceptance. But, then I read the comments, and Gag me! I hate mean people. Seriously. So I stopped reading those nasty comments.

A good many of those comments related to Polygamy and how the Mormon Mommy Bloggers are not telling the full story.  That we are secretly part of polygamist families and just not telling you.  The LDS church does not believe in nor practice polygamy.  I have one husband and he has one wife (ME).  Even members of my own family have made comments about us being polygamists, cultist, pagans and members of a colony?  Say what?  I hope that the way I live and act is an example of my true lifestyle.

I have to admit I have a small list of reasons
WHY I don't make a good Mormon despite my strong convictions in my
Church and my Savior, Jesus Christ.

1.  I do not can fruits, vegetables or anything like unto it.
I canned freezer jam once, and I still have a bunch.
Somehow my family prefers Smuckers.

2.  I barely garden

3.  Sewing?  Yeah right! Give me a freaking staple gun.
That's more like it...

4.  I have an addiction to Diet Cherry Pepsi

5.  I have piercings

6.  I have a love of beautiful tattoos.

7. I use expressive words that may or may not be offensive.

See?  We are not perfect nor profess to be.

Mormon Mommy Bloggers are pegged as being perfect, eternal optimists with their "nothing goes wrong" attitudes.  And that is simply not true.  Well, some of us like to paint rosier pictures than others, but I would say that we choose to focus on the positives in our lives.  That is what makes us happier in the long run.  Just ask Oprah...I've done my share of complaining on my blog.  Holy Flippin' Fetch?  Seriously!  I have...

Like when my oldest son, TJ,  left home and joined the Air Force.

When my husband took a group of scouts

I've complained about being 2busy
(which by the way is slowing down now)

Car trouble here, here, and quite possibly here.

There are so many more.  Just try looking under my label Sarcasm

So the point is, we are normal people, leading normal lives, not everything is perfect all the time, but we try to be happy and cheerful.

If you are interested in what we believe
and not the often times drivel
put out by people who profess to know,
you could go here.

Or you can read some things I have written here.  or here.

My life is an open book or blog.  Truly...

My Jeans

Do you dislike jean shopping just as much as I? It is so hard to find that perfect pair of jeans. I found my perfect pair a few years ago on a clearance rack. They felt amazing on, and if I do say so myself, don't look too shabby either. They fit all my curves just right. They are like a second skin. I love these jeans. I'd show them too you, I could take funny facebook like pictures, but that would be capricious of me, now wouldn't it?

The problem with these jeans are, they are truly wearing out and I can't find the brand anywhere. Seriously, I have looked everywhere and on the web. So I am back to square one...Jean shopping for the perfect jean. I haven't tried True Religion yet. Poor KT...

Depoe Bay, Day 6

Would you believe that I caught crabs in Oregon?
Well, I did, and I don't look very happy about it.

So I am going to flip a full fluke at this place and head home to the Treasure Valley.

As the sunsets on our last day in Oregon,
life will soon be back to normal starting at 7:00 am on 7/20.
And that is how the vacay ends...

Depoe Bay, Day 5

Ladybug, KT and I left the old folks at the
RV and headed off for the
Oregon Coast Aquarium in Newport.
(Wasn't that cruel of us? But, hey, they were slowing us down...)

Our favorite was the Sea Otter. Isn't he cute?

I had to coax Ladybug into touching
a live sea anemone and some star fish.
Can you say CHICKEN?

We ended the day with a 2 mile walk
on the beach collecting agates.
I felt like a boy with my pants sagging
from the weight of the rocks in my pants.

Depoe Bay, Day 4

My mom's Motto:
"Whoever said money can't buy happiness
doesn't know how to shop."
 Boy am I exhausted...

My Motto:
"Read, Relax, Repeat"
I need me a little more of this...

Depoe Bay, Day 3

The day started out with a beautiful run along the shore.
This picture may or may not prove that I actually ran,
but I guess you'll have to just take my word for it.

We were then blessed to be able to see a whale right out front of the RV.

It was spouting and breaching the surface. I caught the tail end of a tail flip. (haha)

We then made a trip to the Tillamook Cheese Factory.
Everyone else got ice cream, but you'd be proud,
me on my reduced sugar diet just got some cheese samples.
 Yum...Say Cheese!

Depoe Bay, Day 2

The day started out rainy and cold, but it is Oregon.
KT and Dad took off to go golfing despite the misting and wind.

When things cleared up,
Ladybug, Mom and I took a walk on the beach...

and later we even found Nemo, it's true!

This little song warms my heart on cold Oregon days...

Depoe Bay, Day 1

In the last 24 hours we have driven 500+ miles to the Oregon Coast,

hiked up Horse Tail Falls,

saw the backside of water,

hit a guard rail whilst riding in an RV,
camped on the ocean front
and ate at World Famous Mo's
Can't go to the Oregon Coast
without eating some shrimp and clam chowder.
You just can't, and that's the truth!

This morning with a heavy mist sitting over the ocean horizon, KT and I took a morning run on the beach.  (I told you I'd run on the beach...)  The cool wet air was salty on my breath.  It was delicious.

Running & Me

If I haven't told you already...I love running. I don't know why...It can be very difficult sometimes. I'm no marathon running mama, by any means, unless you count my monthly stats.

I have some friends who only enjoy running outside. They like to hear their feet hit the pavement and in the quiet of the morning hear the birds singing them on.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Seriously. I think I'll take a nap! I can't get through a run without an incredible beat thumping in my ears.  So here are five random running tunes from my iphone, and later this week I'll be thumping to these tunes and running along an Oregon Beach.

Be jealous!
I know...

Anniversary & Boy Scouts

Today is my 22nd Anniversary to KT. Now that is a LONG time! But today, instead of choosing to spend it with me, moi he is spending it with a group of boy scouts doing this

It is just a day...and we do have TWO anniversaries
(That's right!  I married this man of mine TWICE!)

He told me:

"Don't worry, baby, we'll celebrate next week in Oregon,
with your parents
and Ladybug
in the RV.
(and in the same breath)
Do you mind if I bring my golf clubs?"

And that is how we roll...

Happy Birthday KT

Happy birthday, KT!
What are you like 60? Seriously...Except I can't find one gray hair on your head.

You suck! Just sayin'.

Even though I am on a limited sugar kick, I'll even make you a birthday cake.
Now that is LOVE! ♥♥♥

Just to clarify...The cake WON'T look like this.
But isn't it freaking cool?!

The 4th!

Happy 4th of July!!!  Today is my most favorite and beloved holiday.  Really, it is.  Above and beyond that of Christmas.  I love celebrating my patriotism, bbqing, making homemade ice cream, swimming, watching fireworks, hanging with family.  Need I say more?

I actually thought this informational/fun facts about the 4th of July was, well, kind of fun. I borrowed it from VA home loans, and they aren't paying me or anything.  (Just thought you should know).  Now I think I'll grab a Popsicle!

Sorry this doesn't show the whole thing. My HTML is limited. I guess you could click it...

Forever

Just last week a dear friend of mine lost here 16 year old son quite suddenly.  He was happy and healthy and then within a few days he had passed away.  It was sad, devastating and heart wrenching.  She is a true inspiration to me with her faith, strength and dignity.  I am so grateful for my Church and our beliefs in forever.  We believe that the family unit goes on forever: Fathers and Mothers, Sons and Daughters.  We even believe that she and her husband will be allowed to finish raising their son in the eternities.  It is faith and comfort from God and Jesus Christ that help us get through these difficult life experiences.  I am so grateful for this knowledge.  Thanks, Jeni, for being a true inspiration.

Summer Garden and Poop?

I recently put in my summer garden. I love to garden, though I'm not very good. I love to go and prune and pluck and dig around in the dirt. I headed to the Home Depot to pick up starts and some soil conditioner a few weeks ago. We live in an area where the ground is very hard and clay like. I tend to garden sans gloves. I like to feel what I am doing. I don't think my mom let me make mud pies when I was a child. Anyway, I'm digging around with my hands and planting and packing and mention to KT that the conditioner kind of smells like poop. With dirt up to my elbows, he says, "Yeah! What did you think was in soil conditioner." He had a great laugh.

Oh, and in case you were wondering, I planted tomatoes, jalapeno peppers, red bell peppers, zucchini, butter nut squash, watermelon, cantaloupe and blueberries. Even if I don't harvest a thing, at least I had fun digging in the poop.
