Seriously, PEOPLE, I need help! I've been asked to teach a mini class at church on "Praying for the Success of your Family". "Have fun with it, make it fun", were my instructions. I'm not sure about you, but I have never used Prayer and fun in the same sentence before. Truly...I have a few ideas brewing and percolating around in my head, but I was wondering if any of you dear blogging friends might have a good angle, idea or direction in which to take this. I have to provide a glorious, fun filled 15 minutes.

ReplyDeleteUm yeah, prayer and fun. Prayer and sincere, grateful, desparate go more hand in hand. After all, prayer is a real power not something we do for entertainment.
ReplyDeleteAlthough my kids sure think it is "fun" and don't get the serious aspect of it when it comes to family prayer. They are all giggles and poking each other. But when it comes to their own personal prayers they are a lot more serious. I guess it makes a difference to people how connected they actually feel to the prayer.

Hmmm that's a tall order. I agree with Heatherlyn that I've never seen it as anything more than a serious thing. I guess you could have family game and prayer night? Wii tennis and prayer?

For me prayer is fun because it's just having a conversation with God about stuff. How about this?......
ReplyDeleteHave everyone think of what success would look like for each family member and begin to thank God for it as if it had already happened. I really believe that being thankful even before your prayer is answered adds to your faith concerning it. make sense? could be fun!

ReplyDeleteI do remember when my kids were puppies there were plenty of times that someone got the giggles which got the rest of us giggling. Dad would get flustered and go have his own prayers. Ah come on. I believe there is no disrespect in this. We would eventually calm down and have prayers BUT...those are great memories to giggle with the kids.
I KNOW that Heavenly Father has a sense of humor. He HAS to. Look at most of us.
