#giveastory

Back in December I posted about Writing, Journals and Children In Need  in support of Gadanke journals and Katie and her newest Time Capsule journal for kids.  At that time, I mentioned I wasn't compensated, I just like to toot the horn of things that I love.  But I'm now part of her Ambassador team to share the message of these special journals that she sells.

I sent one of these fun journals to my niece for Christmas plus one for a child in need.  I never actually got to hold the book and really look through it until Katie sent me two books to review and share.

I love journal writing, although I'm not as good as I'd like to be.  In my defense, I kind of think of my blog as a bit of a journal, too.  But, really I just need quiet time to myself in order to feel the creative juices flowing.  What is great about this journal is that it is guided journaling.  It asks the kids to say... draw a picture of their home on one page, then to list reasons why they love their home on the opposite page or to list their favorite TV shows, or food.  It helps bypass that need for creative juices at it guides them to write down the little things that, when they are old like me, they won't remember unless they recorded it somewhere.

Isn't this a fun way to document a child's youth?
I think this and a nice pack of colored pencils or gel pens
would be a fun gift.

Stay tuned...I've got something fun coming up...

Holy Tabbs Review

A few weeks ago I was contacted by HolyTabbs asking if I was interested in reviewing their product.  I am always interested in trying new products, especially where the Gospel is concerned.  My obvious answer was "yes".

HolyTabbs is a companion scripture study tool that goes along with Preach My Gospel.  They have researched hundreds of scriptures that go along with the topcis of study.  It is taking e a while to mark and tab all the scriptures.  As I am doing this, I am studying, too.  My favorite topic of study to mark and tab has been the attributes of Christ.

My only drawback I have found with the system, has been those little tiny tabs.  In truth, I feel all thumbs.  Plus, I can't seem to line them up as nicely as HolyTabbs has done.  Although they do suggest drawing guidelines down the side of your scriptures, which I didn't want to do.  So I guess, if I had followed their directions, I would be more pleased with their alignment.  One thing I have found that is nice are the tabs are removable if you are careful.  I tried because of misalignment, and it peeled right up and I was able to replace it correctly.

HolyTabbs also sent a set for my Missionary to review.  To be honest, this system would have been so helpful to him at the beginning of his mission.  Miguel is on the countdown to come home.  He has five months left!  Miguel promised to share his thoughts on HolyTabbs as soon as he has a chance to implement them into his Gospel Study.

If you have a missionary heading out or if you are interested in this Gospel Study that coincides with Preach My Gospel, then I definitely recommend you checking out the HollyTabbs system.

I was sent this item in exchange for my honest review.**

Summer Reads

Since I have been laid up this summer with back problems, I have been doing a lot of reading.  I have recently discovered and have been enjoying Kristy Tate's books.  They are clean, fun and have some romance to them, too.  I also enjoy her blog, Kristy's Stories,  as she gives updates and insight into her works of fiction.

She is offering a special right now on Rescuing Rita.  It is 99¢ on Amazon.  It will probably go up to $4.99 like her other books.  I just bought Rescuing Rita today.  I haven't read this one yet, but I'm plugging her book because I'm cool like that.  But, really, also because I get a coupon for another one of her books.  This book junkie just can't get enough...

A Confession and a Review

I must confess to feeling old these days.  You know you are old when you begin to hold things out and away from your face because you can't see them up close.  Yes, you guessed it...my confession is I'm old enough to need reading glasses.  I spend a lot of time on the computer and reading, and without glasses, this close up work can give me whopper headaches. I was approached by Firmoo, an online prescription and non prescription eye glass retailer about doing a review.  They must have had some sort of ESP to know about my need for reading glasses and such.

Firmoo.com offers regular, reading and sunglasses with prescription or without.  The kind people at Firmoo were very helpful with any questions I had, and the website was easy to maneuver and use.  The glasses arrived in a timely fashion and the product is well made.  The frames seem sturdy and the lenses are spot on with my prescription.

I love that their glasses came with not one but two cases depending on your preference   I received a hard case AND a soft case as well as a couple of little extras.  The cleaning cloth is a coveted item at my house, and I have to keep a close eye on it so it doesn't disappear.  The glasses also came with a handy screw driver on a key chain for those tiny screws that come loose from time to time AND several screws in case you lose one.  This is a company that cares about going the extra mile.

I'll tell you, I recently bought a name brand pair through my Optometrist using my insurance.  While they are of fantastic quality and bear that brand name, I must confess that the Firmoo glasses rival the quality of my name brand glasses for less than I paid with my insurance.

If you haven't visited or purchased from Firmoo.com before, you may want to go ahead and take a look.  They offer your first pair free to new customers.  All you pay is shipping.  It just may be worth your while

KT says this is my librarian look.

**I did receive a pair of glasses for my honest review.
You can receive a free pair, too, through their new customer program**

A Coupon Named for Moi and a Review

A couple of weeks ago I told you about the fabulous coupon named for moi from eShakti.  (Coupon code is:  LISAHAMER)  It's a killer good deal of 20% off until March 20th.  You can combine this coupon with a current promo they have going on where you buy one item and get 50% off the next item.  The only stipulation is that it can't be something that is already marked down.  I know it works, I tried it, and I am the kind of person who looks for ways to combine deals and coupons.  Just call me an expert ;)

What I am not an expert at is modeling.  This was very uncomfortable for me, I am more comfortable behind the lens, but Ladybug had fun with it....For my time and efforts in promoting their products and website, I was sent an item of my choice.  I chose a skirt because skirts can be so versatile.

This is the Tiered Denim Chambray Skirt.  It is light and comfortable and the fitting was just perfect.  The quality is amazing and the shipping was timely.

Like I mentioned when I first posted about the coupon, I already have a dress of theirs, so I was already sold on the company.  If you are interested in checking out their other products and taking advantage of these great incentives to buy, you can go to www.eShakti.com.

And just for fun...

A Coupon Named for Me?

Yes, you read that right!  I have a coupon named after me!  It's crazy, I know.  eShakti is an online company that offers custom sized dresses.  I don't know about you, but sometimes dresses fit me all wonky.  Tight on the top but perfect on the bottom.  With eShakti you can submit your measurements and they will customize the dress of your choice to fit you!  Normally there is a small extra fee for customization but through February 28, 2013, customization is free.

Currently they have a delightful line of Spring dresses and Bridesmaid dresses.  I love how feminine and flirtry their dresses are.  They do have a fun retro flair to them, as well.  eShakti is offering the readers of That's What She Said...a coupon code worth 20% off your purchase.  The code expires March 10, 2013.  Head over and check out their line of dresses, skirts and blouses, and if you decide to order, use the coupon code:  LISAHAMER in the 'Promotional Code' box.

I love the birds on this dress...

I have one of their summer sun dresses and absolutely love it.  I would have tried it on for you for this post, but lets just say, my legs are kind of winter-white and leave it at that.

**While my opinions of their beautiful dresses is my own,
I have been offered a free dress for my time in helping promote this company**

A Shout Out

A dear blogging friend, Alene from Positively Alene, recently wrote a book called Graffiti that has just become available this week on Amazon.  While I can't review the book as I have not yet read it, I can tell you that she is an endearing, moving writer.  She currently has her book available for FREE on Amazon for download on your Kindle.  If you don't have a Kindle, then you can download the Kindle app to your computer or phone for reading.  It is my understanding that it is only available for the low price of FREE for one more day.  She only asks that you leave her a review when you are finished.

**I was not compensated for my review.  Just giving a "shout out" for a friend**

Letter Writing

I have been finding that the act of lettering writing is becoming a lost art.  It really isn't often anymore that we write a handwritten note, address an envelope and seal it with a kiss.  This old custom has been replaced by phone calls, emails and texting.  The excitement of going to the mailbox has now been replaced with the dread of bills and junk mail.

DaySpring recently sent me the most beautifully crafted set of cards to use and send to those I love in exchange, of course, for my review.  I received cards from their Redeemed line.  The cards are exquisite and have extra little touches that almost make them look handcrafted.  The sentiments inside are just heartwarming and offer an inspirational message or scripture.  My grandmother lives in an assisted living facility over 15 hours away.  I miss her so much!  Regretfully, due to the distance I am only able to visit her about once a year.  Calling her sometimes is difficult because she either doesn't hear the phone or she isn't in her room.  These cards are the perfect touch  for a letter to my sweet grandmother.  Hopefully when she opens my letter inside of one of these cards, she will know of my love for her and our Savior's love for her, too.

As I try to reach out and uplift others,
I am going to try to resurrect that long lost art of letter writing.
Will you join me in my quest?

I did receive this product from DaySpring in exchange for my honest review.

On the run

I have to admit this one one of the stupidest things I have ever seen. No offense if you have one, but I mean seriously, Americans eat on the run far too much if this little item is necessary. No wonder there is an obesity problem in America! We just keep coming up with lamo, stupid products to perpetuate our bad eating habits. Not to mention the fact that it is dangerous to eat and drive. I know it isn't as dangerous as "drinking" and driving, but hey probably just as risky. On another hand, a few years ago I had three kids in baseball, no one played at the same field and big KT was conveniently out of town for a good chunk of the season. I spent most evenings shuffling kids between games and practices. I was in the car most days from 4:00 to 9:00, and I did a lot of eating on the run! Maybe this would have come in handy... NOT!!

I got to meet Glenn Beck!

Okay, so it was really just a book signing for the Christmas Sweater. It is #1 on the New York Times best seller list. I haven't read it yet as I am going to the Live Christmas Sweater show tonight. But it is supposed to be a really heart warming story of Christmas and love. (I think I better bring tissue tonight!) Kevin and I stood out in the cold for over an hour to get his autograph and shake his hand. I was even worried that they would run out of books before we got up to the front. They didn't run out for us, but I'm sure they did. The line was still long when we left.
Mr. Beck shook my hand and took the time to thank me for coming and asked me if I would be coming to his show tonight. Kevin took this picture. (Again, thank goodness for camera phones) Fun, fun!

Just released and Incredible!

Just released today is David Cook's debut album after American Idol. Now I lean toward country music, but I find him and his style irresistible. Kevin kind of likes him, too. I had to head out to Walmart after work today and pick this up for $9.88. Also released today: Loved these books! I think it appeals to me because I don't have any sisters, although these girls aren't sisters in the biological sense. It reminds me of my relationship with my girlfriends in High School. I miss those girls! I happened upon a great deal while Christmas shopping. Both movies and the 1st book for $21.76. Now that is a great deal when the 2nd movie by itself was selling for $19.99. Okay, I know, I am a little too excited about my bargains today. Sometimes while Christmas shopping it is fun to throw things in for yourself. I told Kevin he could wrap both items up for me...He just looked and me and rolled his eyes.
