A Small Town Girl

Deep down in my heart I long to live in a small town. I've mentioned before that I am a country girl, but I'm a small town girl, too. It seems an oxymoron considering that I was born in Cali, raised in Denver and KT is from Chicago....Can't get any more LARGE town than that! My soul longs for the laziness of a small town where the big event is the Friday night football game. Where you sit on the porch and know all your neighbors names....Where you listen to the crickets and take time to smell the fresh cut grass. Maybe in my second life....Do you think heaven is a small town?
"Sometimes it feels like this world is spinning faster Than it did in the old days So naturally, we have more natural disasters From the strain of a fast pace Sunday was a day of rest Now, it's one more day for progress And we can't slow down 'cause more is best It's all an endless process. Well I miss Mayberry Sitting on the porch drinking ice-cold cherry coke Where everything is black and white Picking on a six string Where people pass by and you call them by their first name Watching the clouds roll by..." ~Rascal Flatts~

  1. Love the small town too! We lived in Payette with 5 acres for a while. Everyone waved to each other. Farmers would show up and plow the driveway during the winter. It was so nice! Then you move into the sub-division where no one waves to anyone and the neighbors keep to themselves! Done the big city too, Seattle and Chicago. Boise is a happy medium.

  2. I like the idea of small towns, and I like visiting, but I could never live in one. I need Target!

  3. Like your friend Kristina, I need a Target too!

I actually wonder what it would be like to live in the city....New York for instance. Walking to work and shopping. Where my view would be of a skyline. I would like to try it sometime, but I think I would still prefer my own life.

  4. Yes...I absolutely think that heaven is a small town....and I'm sure that there are lightning bugs twinkling in the distance...

    I love small towns, too...
I enjoyed living in NYC when I was there, but now that I'm here in the country, I could never live in a big city again...this is the life!

  5. I could never live in a small town. Oh wait I already do. Yeah it's not for me. Give me a city with a Target, Barnes & Noble and Old Navy within easy driving distance. A Cheesecake Factory wouldn't kill me either.

Love the picture with all the tractors lined up on the street. Did you take that?
