Turn Toward the Light

Warm sunlight on my skin, turning my face toward the light, I feel the heat on my cheeks and eyelids.  I love the sun.  I'm a worshipper of sorts...with sunscreen, of course.  I can't get enough of it and soak up every bit I can in the spring and summer.  My home has to have lots of windows to let that sweet sunshine in.  It rules me and warms my soul.  I have a sing in my home that says "Live in the Sunshine" because that's important to me.  I should live at the beach, just sayin', all those sweet, warm rays...all...the...time.  But, I live in Idaho, and in the winter that means INVERSION.  It's like living in this dark clouded blanket.  Misty darkness even in the bright of day.  I haven't seen the sun in a week, and I'm feeling it.  There is one beautiful point, though, in all the freezing cold foggy inversion, and that is the beauty it creates on the trees.

This wintery frosty, Christmasy goodness is lingering on in nature.  I don't mind this beauty, but CAUTION, don't slip.

Let My Light Shine

My parents bought some new light fixtures and were getting rid of the old.  They offered their light to me.  Since their "builder basic" lighting is was nicer than my "builder basic" lighting, I quickly agreed to take it off of their hands for free.

I love the way light can fill a room.  It brings you out of darkness.

I used to borrow light from my parents.  They believed beyond a shadow of a doubt, so in my mind I knew it must be true...I didn't know how to find it myself, or I was just too lazy.  We all know the parable of the ten virgins.  It is not possible to borrow that kind of light from someone else and hang it nicely in our home.

I love the way light can fill your soul.  It brings you out of darkness.

As an adult and a parent it became increasingly more important for me to find that light for myself...to make sure I knew for myself.  If I have that light from within, then I can in turn help my children and others, but it all starts with me.  I study, pray, ponder, serve and attend Church so that my light does not dim.  I can honestly say that I know my beliefs are true.  I know that He loves me and has a plan for me.  I'm grateful everyday for that light.

My hope and prayer is that my children don't rely on my light, alone, sure, they can borrow it from time to time, but use it more as an example of something they wish to seek out for themselves.

Have you noticed the light?

Source:  ME

Have you noticed the way the light has been falling recently? Shadows are shorter, the sun is brighter. Temps are getting warmer, more comfortable...I have opened up my windows for a good airing out...Before the dreaded daylight savings time, I was even driving to work wearing my sunglasses. I have since reverted to driving in the dark again, but I know when I get back from Spring Break the glorious sun will be there to greet me in the mornings again. I love the spring and summer. Something comes alive in me...I have more energy and creativity. I feel like I have come alive, been reborn...

How about you?
