Memorial & Remembrance

It is interesting to me how many people confuse Memorial Day and Veteran's Day. Just watch any news program or commercial and you'll notice the faux pas. The line between the two has become fuzzy in recent years. But there is a difference. A huge difference... Did the service member give his life in service for his/her country?  That is the difference.  As we go about our celebrations today of BBQ's, picnics or fun at the beach, let's remember and be thankful for those service members who gave their lives in service for our country.

Because that is what Memorial Day is all about.

  1. very true. I was trying to explain this to a 3yr old today at the parade. What also grinds my gears is the lack of respect for our flag too, but that is another rant for another day.
    nicely said. :)

  2. Thanks Lisa! Today outside our base there is a man who has been standing out in the heat all day. He is holding up a Thank You sign for everyone to see. Things like your post and that man really make me smile.

  3. I thought about that. It's a very sobering holiday but I'm glad we have it because it is a sobering thing for someone to give their life in the service of their country.
